New For '22: Trek Roscoe Re-Worked

The Trek Roscoe has been turning new riders to its trail-shredding ways for a fair few years now, but for 2022 Trek have given the range a substantial revamp. It’s still aimed squarely at new and recently-converted riders, but the updated spec and design offers even the most experienced riders plenty to get their teeth into

The new-look Roscoe comes in three flavours – 7, 8 and 9 – all fitted with air-sprung 140mm forks and 1x12 drivetrains. The rear dropouts have been updated for Boost through axles, and the increase in suspension travel is supported by a longer top tube and slackened 65-degree headtube angle. While the 27.5+ wheels have been switched out for 29er wagon wheels, the chainstays have actually been shortened on all sizes. More rollover, *and* a snappier rear end! Just in case all that isn’t enough to signpost the Roscoe’s intentions, new moulded chainstay and downtube protectors surely are.

The equipment supplied reflects the trickle-down effect we’ve seen over the past couple of years from all the key suppliers, with all three models fitted with air-sprung 140mm forks and dropper posts. The Roscoe 7 features the new Deore 12 speed groupset, offering up-to-date performance without a high-end price tag. The Roscoe 8 and 9 are both fitted with 4-piston brakes, and the top-spec Roscoe 9 features the rather wonderful Fox Rhythm 36 fork.

The new Roscoes will start hitting UK shores in the coming months, and as the great pandemic bike drought continues, we don’t expect these to sit on the shop floor for long. Keep your eyes peeled and speak to your local store to register your interest!
