With the Tarmac SL7, Specialized have hit the sweet spot between light weight, aerodynamics and ride comfort. In the never-ending pursuit of speed, Specialized have taken their philosophy of Rider-First Engineered design and run with it, creating a race thoroughbred road bike without compromise.
Lessons learned during the development of the Venge are paying dividends here, with a clean aero-yet-practical cockpit and new tube profiles created with their FreeFoil Shape Library. The new Specialized Tarmac delivers significant advances over the SL6, and equipped with the tubeless-ready carbon Roval C 38 wheelset the Tarmac Expert tested at 33s faster over 40km than the previous iteration. Shimano’s mechanical Ultegra 11-speed groupset ensures reliable, crisp shifting performance at a low weight.
