Overhauled for 2022, this new range of Roscoes has seen a slew of tweaks and upgrades placing it firmly in the performance category: 29er wheels, increased suspension travel, shortened chainstays and a slackened headtube – the new Roscoe 7 would be right at home in the hands of a professional, yet remains accessible even for those just starting out.
Trek’s Alpha Gold Aluminium frame provides impressive stiffness to weight and remains stable on descents without sacrificing manoeuvrability on technical sections. Cables are hidden away neatly inside the frame for both the rear derailleur and the dropper seatpost. Trail features and chunky roots are taken care of by the RockShox Recon Silver RL, with up to 140mm of air-sprung travel at its disposal. Bontrager’s XR4 29x2.60” tyres absorb what’s left of the trail chatter, making for a comfortable and grippy ride on wet or dusty singletrack. For shifting, Shimano’s 1x12-speed Deore groupset is smooth and dependable – MT200 hydraulic disc brakes take care of stopping and are just as powerful in wet or dry conditions. Finished off with a TranzX dropper seatpost, the Trek Roscoe 8 is more than ready to shred some singletrack.
