The Alpina S-Way V has a large spherical panoramic lens and provides an enormous field of vision and maximum protection. With the high-end lens technology Varioflex, the Alpina S-Way V are excellent sports glasses for any lighting and weather conditions.


The lens optimally adjusts its tint to the lighting conditions (photochromatic): light when it?s overcast outside, and dark when the sun is shining. This puts the protection level range at cat. 1 to 3. Fogstop prevents the lens from misting up. Fogstop is a coating applied to the inside of the lens. It is not smooth but rough ? seen through a microscope it looks quite fissured. This makes it impossible for moisture droplets to form a covering layer, i.e. to mist up the lens, impairing visibility. This could only occur if the humidity level was such that all the fissures are filled with water. But before this can happen, the stored moisture actually condenses, keeping the lens clear.


Varioflex

Varioflex



Varioflex is a lens technology in which the lens tint automatically adjusts to the weather. The self-tinting (photochromatic) lens reacts to visible light. When exposed to radiation, chemical elements open up and create a flat, darkening effect. When the light intensity decreases, the chemical elements close and the lens becomes brighter again. This process takes seconds. The result: a lens for a wide variety of light conditions.
